Happy Birthday!!!!!!

Happy Birthday, Chrissy!!!!

Today is my wonderful sister-in-law's birthday! Pop on over to her blog and leave her some birthday wishes!

I am trying to have your birthday present done by this weekend... :)

Sandal Humor

All right ladies, it's that time of year again!!! I think we all need to be reminded of a few things...
So my sisters, PLEASE, raise your big toes and repeat after me below...

The Open Toed Shoe and Sandal Pledge

As a member of the Cute Girl Sisterhood, I pledge to follow the Rules when wearing sandals and other open-toe shoes:

I promise to always wear sandals that fit. My toes will not hang over and touch the ground, nor will my heels spill over the backs. And the sides and tops of my feet will not pudge out between the straps.

I will go polish-free or vow! to kee p the polish fresh, intact and chip-free.
I will not cheat and just touch up my big toe.

I will sand down any mounds of skin before they turn hard and yellow.

I will shave the hairs off my big toe.

I won't wear pantyhose even if my misinformed girlfriend, coworker, mother, sister tells me the toe seam really will stay under my toes if I tuck it there.

If a strap breaks, I won't duct-tape, pin, glue or tuck it back into place hoping it will stay put. I will get my shoe fixed or toss it.

I will not live in corn denial; rather I will lean on my good friend Dr. Scholl's if my feet need him.

I will resist the urge to buy jelly shoes at Payless for the low, low price of $4.99 even if my feet are small enough to fit into the kids' sizes. This is out of concern for my safety, and the safety of others. No one can walk properly when standing in a pool of sweat and I would hate to take someone down with me as I fall and break my ankle.

I will take my toe ring off toward the end of the day if my toes swell and begin to look like Vienna sausages.

I will be brutally h onest with my girlfriend/sister/coworker when she asks me if her feet are too ugly to wear sandals. Someone has to tell her that her toes are as long as my fingers and no sandal makes creepy feet look good.

I will promise if I wear flip flops that I will ensure that they actually flip and flop, making the correct noise while walking and I will swear NOT to slide or drag my feet while wearing them.

I will promise to throw away any white/off-white sandals that show signs of wear... nothing is tackier than dirty white sandals.

Custom Font Creation

So, if you want to get a font made out of your handwriting, now is a GREAT time to do it. I just used up the last of a gift certificate and ordered mine. Now I have to practice my writing! The print font is only $9 right now. And don't be a moron like me! There is a free HUGE kit if you purchase $10 in product. Had I added one of the fonts I meant to get anyway, I could have gotten the free kit... I forgot to add the dang font and didn't get the kit! I'm a smart one.

nevermind... i just read the fine print and custom font creation doesn't qualify as a purchase for the free kit. i'm not a moron after all! :)

What I was doing...

20 years ago:
I was a little over 8 years old, and had just moved to Florida for the first time. We were living with my grandparents and waiting to move into our new house. I spent hours following my uncle Chris and Aunt Sara around, completely driving them crazy! Sara and I used to bake together and Chris would occasionally humor us and play Hide & Seek with us. I was a big brat and wouldn't take my turn being "It". So, I would say I was done playing when it was my turn. One day Chris got mad at me (he is only 2 years older than me) and pushed me and I hit my head on the bathroom wall. I think I told everyone that he bashed my head into the wall. At the time, I thought he meant to. Sorry for getting you in trouble, Chris! :) But do you remember this, "Twizzlers candy..." "Makes mouths happy!"

15 years ago:
I was thirteen years old and a smart-mouthed little snot. I can't believe that I survived my childhood. I would have beaten me senseless. I was in 8th grade at Fletcher Middle School and thought I was on top of the world. I had my very first boyfriend, an "older man" who was in high school. I was one of two girls in our middle school who had a high school boyfriend. I thought I was so cool and now I realize how dumb I was! I was WAY TOO YOUNG to have a boyfriend at all, especially an older boyfriend. But, I was such a prude. I never even kissed the poor guy. He put up with me for six months and never even got a kiss. Honestly, I don't regret that even a little bit! I was completely insecure and knew that I was a NERD. I had friends. But I was never invited to go anywhere or do anything by the cool kids. Which looking back, I am extremely grateful for. But at the time, it was hard because those were the kids I was friends with in elementary school, but they were too cool for me now.

10 years ago:
I was 18 and I was a freshman in college at BYU. That is when I met Thomas, my sweet hubby! At this point ten years ago, we weren't speaking to each other. We were just friends but one of my crazy roommates decided to call him and lecture him for not calling me more often. Thomas got mad and didn't call for quite a while. But that's okay, by this point I had moved on to another guy... I was a complete dork. I was living in a ghetto apartment with 4 CRAZY girls, trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life and I was completely homesick and hating everything to do with BYU and Utah. I wanted my mommy & daddy!

5 years ago:
I was 23 years old and married and desperately wanted to get pregnant. Thomas and I had just decided that we were going to start our family. I was working as a temp for a law firm as a runner, walking all over downtown Jacksonville by myself. Were Thomas and I complete idiots? We wouldn't drive down there without our doors locked, but I walked around the deserted streets without a second thought. I lost my first two pregnancies that year. It was a really hard year for us.

3 years ago:
I was a new mom with a six month old who I was totally and helplessly in love with. I would just sit and hold her for hours! Gee, I wonder why she is spoiled. I was just adjusting to staying at home and not having any adult interaction. Thomas was working selling cars. It was another difficult year for us, full of lots of adjustments, but it was a lot of fun, too. I also started digital scrapbooking this year! So, I got a new hobby/talent.

1 year ago:
I was getting ready to give birth to my second child, another girl. I was sick and tired all the time. It was about this time that Thomas and I decided that if we were ever going to move back to Utah, it should probably be soon.

Yesterday:
Uhhh. I can't remember. Probably the same thing as every other day... dishes, diapers, check the mail, clean the toilet...

Today:
Fed the kids, bathed & dressed the kids, blogged, scrapbooked, cleaned, organized a bit, WATCHED AINSLEY TAKE HER FIRST STEPS!

Tomorrow:
I am hoping to convince Thomas to go to IKEA with me to get some organizational stuff for the house. We got a gift certificate for Christmas and need to use it. AND we need to get Hannah's room and the family room organized. I am embarrassed to admit this, but our house is still in boxes!

Thanks, Sarah, for posting this on your blog! I didn't think I would have much to say, but I was wrong! :)

MY BIG GIRL!!!

She did it! My baby started walking today! And yes, I cried. I was putting on my makeup to get ready to run some errands, Thomas called me out to the family room and informed me that Ainsley had taken two whole steps all by herself! I MISSED IT! And our camera battery was charging. So, I grabbed the half-charged battery, threw it in the camera and made Thomas get her to walk again. She did it!!!!! Four more steps! We made her walk to us over and over again. She loved walking to Hannah and Hannah thought it was the coolest thing in the world! Ainsley loved having us clap and cheer for her. Tonight, Ainsley stood up in the middle of the floor and took a couple of steps just to get to her toys. She really is growing up. She is such a sweet little baby and I just love her so much. At least she still lets me snuggle her and kiss her little stinky feet. Love you, Baby!!!

4 1/2 hours....

UNTIL I LEAVE FOR GIRLS' WEEKEND!!!!! WOOHOO!

I am coming home at night to feed Ainsley and sleep, so it isn't a complete vacation, but it will be nice to get out for a bit. I am already missing my kiddos! :) I am so grateful that my wonderful hubby is willing to let me go do this. I'm very scared what the house will look like when I get back. I am expecting it to either be completely trashed or for him to have thrown everything IN the trash! :) We'll see!

Thanks, Tommy!!!!

High Fructose Corn Syrup

Have you seen the Juicy Juice commercial with the kids in a play and the kids are all fruits and talk about growing on trees and then there's the kid who says "I'm high fructose corn syrup. And I've been chemically altered...."

I opened my kitchen cabinets on Monday and this is what I found... Lovely.

Everything on the middle and bottom shelves was coated with corn syrup. Everything is sticky. The lid of my soynut butter jar was covered in about 1/4 inch of corn syrup. Guess how I found that out??? Yep, went to pick the jar up by the lid and stuck my hand right in it. Apparently, my plastic jar of corn syrup leaked. Have no idea how. It wasn't upside down. Just leaning a bit to the side, but since the jar was almost empty, there is no way it could have gotten out up by the lid. There aren't any visible cracks in the bottle either. So, this one is a mystery folks!
And Hannah can't reach it, even standing on a stool!

spring flowers craft

Hannah was begging and crying to do a craft earlier today, so I found this website that showed how to make Handprint Lilies. It was pretty easy to do and Hannah did everything except the hand tracing and cutting all by herself.

Hannah was wrapping the finger petals around pen to make them curl.

Hannah was smelling the flower to see if they smelled like REAL flowers. nope. But I am tempted to spray them with something! :)

This is the finished product, complete with crystal bud vase!

Want to do this project? The instructions are here...
We used green, white & yellow construction paper, a bendy-straw for each flower, tape, 3 -4 inches of pipe cleaner for each flower, tape. I only had white pipe cleaners. I wish that I had brown ones for the stamen so that they would look more real. So, I tried to color the tips of the pipecleaners brown with a dry erase marker. Didn't work so well. Hannah has tiny hands so our lilies are skinny. If you have kids with bigger or thicker hands, it would be cute, too! I think the marbled construction paper would be cool for this project, too, but we don't have any.

Woohoo!

You should now be able to click on sidebar links on my blog and have them open in a new window... haven't figured out how to do this with links actually in posts yet! Well, unless I want to code each link individually. I have mentioned this site before, but I am going to plug it again...
